I have been a member of the website Fanstory dot com since 2003.  If you are serious about learning how to improve your writing, this is the place to go.  You can check out the site and read anything a member has posted without becoming a member.  If you wish to comment, that requires a free membership.  Those wishing to submit poems, scripts, short stories or longer books need to pay.

Checking my writings in 2003 and comparing it to today, I'm amazed at the improvements, all thanks to this site.

Out of impulse, I signed up for two years....   I a poem and within 10-15 minutes had 5 reviews.  I think that it was money well spent assuming I gain the impetus to post/review regularly.

Hedgehog avoids the poetry side as a rule.  Too many members have thin skin and don't take comments too well unless they are full of praise.

Oh yes, there is now a youth section.  Authors below 15 can select this option and others will know they are reviewing the works of a younger member.

Just an update.  I've left this site as it has degenerated into a vanity site.  There are good reviewers there, but its like hunting for diamonds in the compost heap.  You'll also find it far more expensive posting.  A one dollar price for a review can cost you over $40 or several hours of reviewing.  Would not recommend it.

Urgh, yeah, that doesn't sound great. For now I will stick to having my husband and friends look at my writing for free. I'd rather make money on my writing than pay to have it read.
