Hello, all! Robert's writer here. Robert unfortunately has lost the competition, but the story's not over just yet. Even still, I'm itching to answer your questions and reveal some secretive secrets, so I'm opening up this thread now. So, ask me anything! Guess my identity! Shower me with gifts! Or don't! It's all up to you now!

Airan

Gonna shoot you the same questions I shot Crue.

1.) Where did your initial inspiration for Robert come from?

2.) What was the most challenging part of writing Robert?

3.) What is something about Robert that you wish you could have explored further?

1.   Originally I wanted a happy sailor who was very friendly and very drunk all the time, and I wanted to focus on his superstitious side. He was going to be a cook for the longest time, but there weren't very many navigators so I messed with the character some to make him not an oaf and more of a contented intellectual to fit the category.

2.   Robert was hard for myself to get invested in. He was a Lawful Good character, and would never choose to do something that could be seen as selfish or evil, and so his arc throughout the story was pretty much decided from the beginning. I was hoping he?d surprise me, but in order to stay true to his character it never really happened. Now, I like how he turned out, and love the character, but it wasn?t really a roller coaster of a character arc to write is all.

3.   I at one point thought I might have a flashback at the beginning of every post detailing some event in Robert?s past that tied with the chapter, sort of a way for me to write Robert telling his stories without actually having him tell them. I never really had the time to do things like that, so Robert?s past was mostly kept unimportant because of that.

1. Did you have any other applications in the contest?

2. Have you ever participated in a Redwall Survivor before?

3. What's your favorite beverage?

Robert Rosequill

1. Yes, I had two. I wrote Morti Dulshed and Morra Sharptongue. Morra was my favorite and I still wish I could have written her  ;D

2. No, this is my first. I've applied quite a bit in the past, but never made it into Top 30 until this one.

3. Probably Fruit Punch Gatorade, I drink it aaaall the time. Gotta stay hydrated, yo.

1- How will the missus and likkle one handle their TRAGICALLY DEAD POP-POP? ...I'm just assuming the worst. Anyways, what will that little, heart-broken daughter of his grow up to be?

2- Who was your least favorite character in the whole story and why? OR, what was thing big dark thing that haunted Robert towards the start of the story?

3- Provide a theme song for yourself and the top three survivors. Appropriate youtube links for bonus points.

4- A classic: what are Robert's three wishes in order of importance. Wishing for more wishes means instant implosion, so that's out.

1. Though Robert's fate is yet to be determined, it wouldn't be much of a spoiler if I said his family would take it hard :P Regarding Maribel, she would definitely be hit by the harsh reality of the world, and would probably never sing again. Her and her newborn sibling would, however, be inspired by their hero father and join the Waverunners just like him, to protect the world from what he couldn't stop. And Violet would be proud of them all, and support them the whole way. Robert's death would hurt her, but she'd be able to move on in order to stay strong for her kids.

2. I'd say it's a tie between two. One was Torin. No disrespect to the talent behind him, for he was a great villain, just that he was a little TOO villainous. He was so oppressive and die-hard of a slavedriver that it was hard for Robert to realistically do anything without horrific punishment afterwards. I couldn't have Robert back down from him after standing up to Atlas in the first post, so it put me in a weird position where Robert had to be inspirational to the other slaves without being too insubordinate to Torin. It ended up to where we just let Torin handwave some of Robert's action.s I also really disliked the snakes, specifically the one who spoke perfect English and could fish. It was very jarring to the tone of the rest of the story to me.

What haunted Robert at the beginning wasn't any one particular thing, it was simply a moment that reminded the old sailors of all the beasts they've known and lost over the years. I didn't realize until after all the reviews that I made it seem like there was an accident, and thought about playing with the idea, but it never came to fruition.

3. Oooh, super fun question!

4.First: A galleon for he and his family to live on forever.
Second: A son.
Third: ALL of the booze, and none of the hangover.

GASP~! You stole Sal's theme from MOII. No joking, I literally put Guile's theme on repeat while writing one of my posts. Such a violent little bugger...

Even though you stole my theme, I'm glad you participated in this contest and I hope you continue with the next one - whether you read or write. Any parting pieces of advice or questions you've for us? Did you enjoy yourself?

Tooley Bostay

Lesse what th' woozle's got fer our resident family hog.

- What did his father think about him joining the navy and eventually his killing of beasts?

- Any cast interactions you wish Rob could have explored, or explored further?

- You're able to save one of the characters voted off (not yourself). Who is it and why?

- How did Rob meet Violet?

Robert Rosequill

Sorry for taking so long for these, guys, I got caught up pretty bad at school to where I thought I had already answered these lol.

Not only is it just one of my favorite video game themes in general, it truly does go with anything :P

And to answer your questions, I'd have to say advice i'd give is to talk and be involved as much as you can in these. I missed out on a lot of cool plot stuff, and that's never fun, so make sure you get in on them chats!

And yes, I did enjoy myself, enough to where I absolutely want to do it again, and am itching to write another character.

And as for YOU Tooley, my favorite woozle:

1. Robert?s father was overjoyed his son was following in his footsteps and sailing the world, though he knew long before Robert was even old enough that he would. All of Robert?s brothers are actually in the navy as well, doing different things. But Robert was the one his father was sure would become a navigator like he did, though Robert never really cared what he did so long as he was on a ship. But with the beast killing, Robert?s father knew that came with the territory, and was disappointed Robert had to become a soldier in order to sail, but is proud regardless.

2. and 3. The answer here kind of ties in with the next one. I?d have loved to explore Robert and Fildering a lot more, and would want to bring him back for more of that. They would have had a cool dynamic with Robert the veteran trying to help the new blood adjust to the actual horrors of survival and combat. It would have tied into Robert seeing the new recruits replacing himself and other older sailors, and so by the end of the story hopefully Fildering would ?replace? Robert in the Waverunner fleet.

4. Thinking about it, I could only see Robert meeting her in a bar. She?s the bar singer, and Robert?s absolutely enchanted by her, and so goes up and offers her a drink. He knows she's special when she outlasts him in shots, and falls in love when he learns the two share the same ideals.
