En wetch ya aska da Dead Dillwither muchlots questionses, ayah!

Vizon

1. If you knew what you know now about the story, what other kind of character might you have tried to apply with at the start?

2. Is this your first contest?

3. How do you write such a spot-on hare accent?

4. What was Fildering thinking in Vera's post?

Fildering Dillwithers

1. I would 'ave submittered a more vy-abble vermin app. B'lieve it or not, I'm a scummy vermin in most Roleplays I've invested meself inter.

2. I've tried m'paw at a bally few "survivor"-style Redwall pass-along story contests amongst chums, but none wore th' jolly old brass buttons, wot; so in th' sense o' a formally-registed, offical Redwall Survivor contest, this is m'first.

3. I mutter to m'self in it both mentally an' occasionally out loud. I've a neighbor who's got an accent extremely similar to th' jolly ol' Leporidoise.

4. He was planning on assassinating Vera once they got deeper into the jungle. He stowed a knife in his sleeve, which he later dropped at the beginning of my post. That's also why he sent Qwirry away in Vera's post- so that he could commit such a deed in total secrecy.
The idea came up in our Snakegroup discussions board and it seemed like a good twist at the time. Unfortunately, I had to pull a character card on that one since it wasn't in Fildering's nature to surreptitiously assassinate anybody, vermin or not. By that time, however, it was too late to pull that content from Vera's post, which I believe was already up on the Story Board, so we rolled with it from there. Me not pulling the character card sooner (perhaps in time to have it pulled from the post) is probably what ended up in Fildering's demise, since I could have used that space in Vera's post to have more bonding between Fil and Vera instead of a plot to kill her that never went anywhere and that the readers were never aware of.

1- What is your most and least proudest moment for Fildering?

2- What's the best thing in the world that can fit into a shoebox? Why?

3- Did you have any other applications in this contest?

4- What is Fildering's idea of a perfect day? The worst day?

5- You can wish for one superpower but ALL of mankind gets it as well. What do you choose?

6- What is your prediction for the final three of this contest?

1. Probably his moment of sitting bound in the boat, helpless to stop Vasily's death. Capturing Plink may've hit him hard, but at least he had the opportunity to stand up to Atlas over it, if not very briefly. With Vas, he just sat there and watched him die without uttering a word. Brrr.

2. A kitten. Because a shoebox is the best thing in the world to fit a kitten.

3. You betcha. Neither of them were in the Top Thirty because, to tell the truth, both were rather mediocre, and neither fit their chosen categories very well.

4. A perfect day is one spent sporting and living life among friends. A worst day is one in which he's forced to let somebody down; he's overly obsessed with pleasing everybody. The best trait of the bunch, that ain't.

5. Shapeshifting! It's fun for everybody, and if I was the only one who could turn into an animal, it would get pretty boring! ("Mankind"? Oh, er, right. Wotever th' deuce that bally well is, wot!)

6. Who do I think will make it to the final three? Ciera, Chak, and Scully. Scully works with Ciera, Ciera works with Scully, and Chak is everyone's favorite butchering pirate slavedriver. Scully, being a former Waverunner, is the only slightly "good guy" of the bunch. If he got offed, all we'd have is a bunch of pirates. That is, unless we maintain Crue and Robert, but at this point in time, both appear to be fulfilling supportive cast roles and not main cast roles.
There is Plink, but something tells me deep in my gut that they're going to off the poor ratty, and it's going to hurt a lot to see that because her story so far is charming. Besides, rats are adorable!
She's neither Waverunner nor pirate, and does seem to have a transition from supportive cast to main cast going on, so there's hope for her yet. Don't die, Plinkers! Survive!
And Tooley. Tooley's a widdle woozle, an' though, again, woozles are awesome and he's really managed to pull one off famously, he's feeling like a supportive cast member instead of someone driving the story. I feel as though Chak is going to kill him at some point. I want to be proven wrong here, 'cos I don't wanna see th' ole salty seadog bash th' widdle woozle!
Vera's here as well, but I feel as though her isolated supportive cast state could be a problem for her in the coming weeks. It can, o' course, be avoided, an' her character can, given the right juice, soar to a main position, but I don't see that happening as of the moment. Only time will tell, o' course. I'm afraid Murdin or Ciera or both are going to eventually kill her as Vera's alignment begins to show out. Then again, she might end up killing one or both of them, but it seems unlikely given Ciera's vote turnout of late.

1. As an author, characters I create often seem to have some of my own personality traits or interests (though usually in a much larger proportion). You've already mentioned that you use the hare accent sometimes in real life, but do any other parts of Fildering reflect you the author?

2. What's your favorite beverage?

Fildering Dillwithers

1. His sword proficiency, his aversion to letting people down, and his insatiable lust for adventure are all shared with me. I'm not a glutton or a troublemaker, so neither of those count, but I think he focuses on those when he's bored and has nothing else to do.

(Kvass!! Wow.)

1.) Whatever was going on with that mean ol' Badgermum tossing them out on their ears?

2.) At what point did you realize that fighting a snake was not going to be your brightest move?

1. Lady Galbraith had decided it was about time they learned to grow up and fulfill their dreams- sitting around foodfighting all day wasn't doing any good for them in that direction. So, like every other old stickler faced with miscreants ever seen in the Redwall series, she kicked 'em out. Tough love. "If you want to fulfill your dreams, go fulfill them." Their being troublemakers was merely a symptom of their boredom, and she used that as an excuse to send them on their way to adventure.
She wasn't trying to be mean, but it seemed feigning gruffness was the way to get them packing.
"Your heart will show you the way" was just something I had to add. It's the cryptic, meaningless catchphrase said by every stern old stickler sending youngsters off on daunting quests ever to grace Mossflower.

2. In-character or the idea as a writer? In-character, Fildering realized it was far from a bright move before he even started fightin' th' thing, but it was 'is only option at th' moment other than abandoning somebody to a freakish death. As an idea, th' idea of Fildering fightin' off a snake wasn't mine, but I thought it was a pretty good idea after so much inaction on Fildering's part.

3. An' that's just what a rabbit can do. You should see us 'ares when we're flippin' well pumped, wot wot!
