Damask the Minstrel

Weeeeeell....

This was going to be the opening of my next post, but a few things got switched around, so consider it a blooper. The post-opening that might have been!

With ragged gasps brave Damask did awake
His body cold and crippled with the shakes.
Reliving once again that horrid pain
That pierced him stronger than the worst chilblains
The sight -- his comrade at the mercy of
A ferret -- who was wielding axe above.
In desperation, for her life he flew
And for it he was almost cleaved in two.
He still can see that axe as it descends.
'Twas only Fate that kept his life from end.

For even seasons later he did say,
Could feel the foulness in the air that day.
For it was evil tidings on the breeze
Portents that to our hero did not please.
His head did throb with ev'ry breath of air
To clear his head he sought his maiden fair.
This burning noxiousness would clear by her,
Clear sties from eyes to simply glimpse her fur (Shaddup, I know it's bad. XD)
And though his chest felt weak and voice felt lame
His body would grow strong to speak her name.

And so across the desert town he hopped.
He came unto her tent and he did stop.
He paused a spell and listened at the flap.
He cleared his throat  -- from inside a small gasp.
"Eliza," called her hero to the tent,
"Oh wondered I if I could have assent,
To tarry here and sing for you a while."
Then she emerged -- that effervescent smile --
The greatest of her charms displayed for he,
"Perhaps, dear knight, in time. An hour, we'll see
If then my ears are ready." She leaned in.
"To overuse your charms, 'twould be a sin."
"The story of life - Boy meets girl. Boy gets stupid. Boy and girl live stupidly ever after." -- Dr. James Wilson

Revel

Are you gonna share the real version of my sonnet, Dammy my pretty?
And I hope that you know that nature is so
This same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land, and forests and sand,
Makes the beautiful world that you'll see in the morning

To all reviewers, past and present, thank you! I don't always find something to say in reply to each reviewer but I do my best to read them and will take their advice as best I can. You are appreciated!

Damask the Minstrel

Can do, miz stoater!

Revel's Sonnet, not butchered through reinterpretation. ^.-

Oh lay you down in moonlight-dappled night
And revel in the scent of nighttime air
For you will find the world is bright and fair
And you will bask within this lovely sight.
Oh, with your aspect you are good and right:
A maiden's grace with mother's heartfelt care.
A courage strong, to face a mean world there
And still to foster tiny, newfound life.

What matters grace or beauty next to that.
What matters how another choose to live?
For grace and beauty are but passing things.
And They have never tried just lying flat
And loving all that nature has to give.
And hearing all the songs that nature sings.
"The story of life - Boy meets girl. Boy gets stupid. Boy and girl live stupidly ever after." -- Dr. James Wilson

Revel

Here is Revel's interpretation for easier comparison. Silly stoat!  ;D

Oh lay you down in moonlight-dappled night
An' I'm Revel in the scent o' nighttime air.
For you will find the world is bright and fair
And you will sleep in a basket, a lovely sight.
Oh, with your insects they are food and right,
A maiden's grace with mother's ahumhum... care.
A courage strong, to face a mean world there,
An' still to fondle tiny, unfound life... light...

What matters grace an' beauty next to that?
What matters how our food chooses to live?
An' grace an' beauty are but passing things
An' um... humhum, ah da da, da... hum an' rat,
An' lovin' all that nature 'as to give,
An' hearin' all the songs that nature sings.
And I hope that you know that nature is so
This same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land, and forests and sand,
Makes the beautiful world that you'll see in the morning
