I don't have a whole lot of time here to write an exhaustive review of these three (final?) chapters, but I wanted to thank the writers for coming back in and wrapping up the story properly. I would check this site every once in a while in the seemingly vain hope that somebody would post something eventually, but soon resigned myself to the fact that it would end with Alan's mystery bargain with Vulpuz.

Well, Alan's alive again! That's good stuff! Everyone's alive again, really - though maybe I missed a follow-up explaining Chokk's unearthly return and where he ultimately ended up going?

All that said, I'm happy to see the story end in a better spot - thanks so much to all the writers here for their contributions. It was a fun ride :)

I think there's actually supposed to be an epilouge from all of us...  we just sorta ran out of steam.  but I think we're all supposed to do one last post tying up all the loose ends...

My epilogue is in the works, I'm already nearly 5000 words into it and should be finished shortly.

Chokk got bogged down a little with real life stuff, so I've tried wrapping up his appearance best I could in my penultimate and epilogue posts. Anyways, keep checking in, we'll have some new posts up soon hopefully.

Second on the thanking people for coming back and finishing this.  I always hate to see contests just trail off inconclusively.  Also: does anybody here know of anyone with current plans to host another contest in the near future?

Opal

I haven't heard anything. No one's even bothered asking for access to the Contest Timeline board here, so I'm thinking it's not really necessary anymore. There used to be a bit of a bottleneck situation for a while, so many admins clamoring to host contests. But no, I think people are taking a breather for now. Or maybe people are just too busy. Or they were part of a certain--but no, I shall leave such unpleasantries for another time and another place. This is a happy place. For happy things. Like fuzzy widdle corgi puppies.

If someone wants to start a contest, go ahead. Just be warned that if you're looking to poach some new peeps from redwallabbey.com...Er, they either showed zero interest or just didn't understand what contests were about at all. Which I thought was rather shocking, since it is such a big, active community. Ten years might just have been the life expectancy of survivor contests. Who knows? Even if this really is it, though, a decade is a long old time. Contests have had a good run. Regardless of what the future holds for contests, I plan to keep this site going and to slowly but surely get that wiki filled in.

And most importantly, yes, contestants, you are incredibly awesome for sticking with it! :)

I am surprised too, but maybe the time has come for contests to end. Redwall Abbey forum seems to be the last bastion of redwall fans, since the demise of the LPF and Terrouge. Well, I hope that community is able to keep the flame alive, I really do. However...

I'm afraid I don't have much time to make a full-fledged review, but I have to say I didn't expect there to ever actually be an epilogue - I guess I was still coming here solely out of habit! Imagine my surprise when I saw that the final chapter had been posted! I was elated - read the whole thing in a single sitting. Put a nice bow on top of the whole story, and while I would've appreciated a bit more finality to the other characters' stories, Rousseau's story came to a close in perhaps the most satisfactory method possible :)

It's been a long road for this contest, and I'm happy to see it's now finally reached its official end. Congratulations, Rousseau, and congratulations anybody else who's reading this for sticking to it!

Well, I wouldn't call the story completely over just yet. Alan and Tobias are still more than welcome to put up an epilogue for their own characters, but this is definitely the end of Captain Rousseau's story and the beginning of Rousseau's in a sense. I'm glad that you liked it.

Alan

I do intend to put up a final chapter of Alan's story.  I have the song to play over and over in a dark room while I write it... but being pregnant, I can't drink what I normally did while writing Alan's posts.  *sigh*  but I promise I will write it and put it up as soon as I can.  Hopefully before this new baby comes.  :p
