Welcome to RedVenture 5! If you're wondering where the teaser is...there isn't one! Mwahah! Let the speculation begin. :D

Also, my apologies for having to screen new memberships. I was getting a bunch of spam accounts so I had to do so to keep them at bay. So if you're waiting for confirmation, sorry for the inconvenience but I'll approve you as quickly as I can! Erm, but if I accidentally reject you it's only because your name looks suspiciously like a spambot. Generally I can tell the difference but you never know. If you accidentally get rejected, just email me and re-register and I'll be sure not to do it again. :P

Then you can ignore my PM from the other site.  Forgot I could access the forum here.

I've never read the Redventure contests before and so I have no idea how different the screening process of getting into the contest is.  Okay...so I have some quick questions.

-Will I need to have read the other Redventures to know whats going on?

-Is there a top 30 (or 27 speaking only 9 writers will participate in this) or do the judges select an immediate top 10 from the list of applications.

Welcome, Airan! Always nice to see a new face. In answer to your questions, no, you do not need to read the previous rounds to understand this one, because each story stands on its own. However, the contestants would love you forever if you did read them. :P

And although in the past we've had a top thirty format, this time is a bit more like the first round of RedVenture. A panel of judges and myself will select a top nine.

Well, in answer to what you said in that PM, Cairn (and because I should probably explain myself anyway), the reason I'm not providing a teaser this time is to ensure that the contestants are all in the same boat right off the bat. There will be no chance for contestants to write themselves in as the child/relative of whatever powers that be in the story, thus making themselves more important to the story than others right off the bat. I'm giving contestants the absolute freedom to create whatever character they want. If your character ends up being a thousand miles from the starting point of the story, well, I've got two words for you: Ret. Con. :P

But seriously, there've been characters that've had to have their character travel from one place to the other, or at least explain briefly in their first post how they traveled there. And my husband would like to remind everyone that Ulrick was nowhere near where the story took place. Actually, no one was, technically, except those that wrote themselves onto the slave ship already in their application.

So the name of the contest is your teaser this time around. Should be fairly obvious...and yet...you have no idea. Mwahahahah... :kitty:

Hello everyone! This is great! Another contest, another chance to get in! ;D Hopefully I get into this one...

By the way, where are the rules on how to apply? I can't find them.

Welcome! Click on "Apply" on the main page. Should take you here.

Do mine eyes deceive me?  If you don't mind me asking, and if this isn't a typo, why 9 and not 10?

Opal

It is indeed a top nine, because, well, I just felt like doing something a little different this time, and it's been quite a long time since there've only been nine contestants in one of these things. It's sort of an homage to ROC:S, to tell you the truth, since they were the original. ^^

Okay, then!

I love the fact that there's no teaser. Now we have to think more about our character and less about how they'll fit into our skewered perception of what the plot may be.

I have nothing else to add at the moment except that, when I read the post on Terrouge, I for some reason skipped a line or two and came off with the idea that the winner of the contest would be the one who gets to kill their character.

To which I said, "COOL."

XD

Well, I suppose they could if they wanted! They basically get free reign over the end of the story anyway. Didn't some winner kill their character at some point? I thought Torry Steggims did, but then, I haven't really read much of QBIII.

... but I also for some reason had the idea that until then, you weren't allowed to kill off your character! I spent a few minutes wondering how that'd work. Would the other writers kill you off when you got voted out? Would you just be kicked off and the others have to keep writing your character? It was a fun scenario, 'til I re-read the post without skipping. XD

Didn't RV2's Anya die after the winners were chosen?
