One thing I don't like about the sharing of failed apps is that if you find out you were really awesome but just lost out due to luck, you can't try again with that idea or name. That really sucks. I prefer to keep my faileds hidden from now on, so I can try them again with a bit of tweaking after seeing what they lost to.

Think that's unusual?  I had my character in Operation Sandstorm not only come back to life, but go through quite a change.  She became a he and the squirrel became a hare.

If that isn't weird enough, I had one of my failed applications go from being a peasant girl to an aristocratic diplomat.  Strangest part was the fun I had with her father in two of my fan fictions.

Speaking of fanfiction, has anybody else noticed that there seems to have been a downturn both in quantity of stories and in length of stories?  I remember back when we had epics like The Crimson Badger and The Shrew War from Highwing and Like Shattered Glass from TDCPresents.  It seems to me like a lot of fanfiction lately is shorter and also hews more closely to the canon in terms of plot, content and style.
