Tooley Bostay

It occurred to me, that while we have a lot of threads welcoming people and giving them the downlow on what this contest is about, we didn't really have a simple thread for people to pop in, say hi, and introduce themselves. So~o... this is me rectifying that!

If you're a new member to the forum, or even a returning veteran, feel free to jump in here and let everyone know you're here/back, and maybe introduce yourself.

For the sake of getting the ball rolling, though I imagine many of you know a little about me: I'm Tooley (duh), a recent newcomer to Redwall Survivors. I first stumbled on the Questors Bold archives, which I thoroughly enjoyed reading, then realized that these contests were still running, and Mossflower Odyssey III was the first I applied and got accepted into.

I've always got my paws in some creative endeavor--voice acting, video production, costume design, art (some of which can be seen here on the forum), etc. My passion, however, is to write--to create stories that bring wonder to light in the eyes of readers. I'm currently hacking through a mystery novel set in a fantasy setting, and once it's all revised and tidied up, I'll be seeking publication for it.

Very thankful to have found a community of like-minded, quality creators here. I've been inspired and encouraged by yew lot, and I'm excited to see where it all leads--both my own pursuits, and the pursuits of everyone else. =D

Ashleg

Ay, I'm new here but I'm Gabool (and I'm Ashleg on the official Redwall forums). This place is looking interesting.
Tooley here is helping me out with the contest, so that's neat...

Fun Fact: I'm bad at introductions.

Good idea, Tooley!

And welcome to the insanity, Gabool. Enjoy your stay.  ;D

For the sake of introduction, I'm known here as Vera, a fellow contestant in Mossflower Odyssey III with Tooley. I was recruited to the Redwall Survivor scene by my friend Vizon, but prior to this, I was pretty active in the Redwall Online Community around the early 2000s. I ran a Redwall club by the name of Sentinels of Mossflower for 10 years, as well as frequented the role playing forums, Salamandastron Dance and the Boz. My primary aliases back then were Lilac Blacktip, Mattia, and Thanatos, if any old veterans from those days are still around.

On the other side of the screen, I'm a wife and mother of 3 (including 2-year-old twins). I'm also an author working towards self-publishing my first book, which has been more than a little interesting with all my minions running around.

Airan

Greetings, Gabool. Welcome to Redwall Survivor. I'm glad to see some of our advertisements managed to bring in a new member- and special thanks to Tooley for taking care of those for me :)

Anyways, I'm Airan,I joined the ROC, but mostly Survivor, in 2008, because I thought the idea of developing characters and stories in a collaborative environment was super cool and I had to get in on that. Since then, I've participated as a contestant in three different contests, was declared the winner of one, and I was the coordinator for our last contest Mossflower Odyssey III: The Lost Treasure of Captain Blade in 2015. Recently I was awarded ownership of the site by the founder, and from there I've just been trying to work with it more, make it better, and try to turn Survivor into a place that fosters aspiring writers and Redwall fans and promotes creative growth.

So a bit about me personally. Since elementary school, I was always the 'art kid.' I have a particular passion for stories and fiction, and the wonder and escapism they can bring, and so I was always drawing characters and creating worlds and stories to put them in. Redwall Survivor was a good fit for me. I'm 22 now, and since then, I've been working on combining my skills with writing and art to get a degree in Sequential Art (comics and storyboards for animation), which I will be finishing this time next year. It's my ultimate dream to publish my own original graphic novel or comic series.

Salutations, my good beasts! Good to see you all here again.

Welcome, Gabool! It's good to have a fresh face.

I joined in the first time during the last contest (MO3), and am a resident Redwall poser. My knowledge of the books is still quite limited, but I enjoy writing and learned a lot from both reviewers and fellow contestants about how to form a better character and story. I was also recruited by Vizon through a mutual friend.

I'm 32 and currently working for a co-op grocery, dividing my time between making sure prices and sales are up to date, and keeping an eye open for shoplifters and other ne'er-do-wells. I don't write nearly as often as I need to, but I do have a few novels I've been working on that are starting to beg to be turned into an actual story.

I also look forward to this year's baking expeditions! Last contest inspired a fair amount of cooking, and I'll see if the chapters to spark off a fresh idea.

Ashleg

Yikes! Guess I should say some more about myself.
I feel really young now, I'm fifteen but like a lot of you I'm writing a book and am also into art (drew my icon).
I found Redwall when I was twelve and imminently got into the roleplay community, first on a non-Redwall website and then last year on the RAF. Who needs sleep anyway?

I'm a Scorpio, and have read every Redwall book except for The Rogue Crew, which I ordered today.

And my name is Gabool both because I like him and because he is usually my result on personality tests.

Cruuuueee! *woozle hug* Been too long, mate. Glad to have you back around. =D And as much of a Redwall tradition as it is, I'm not quite sure how food or feasts will factor into this one. Then again, maybe the more successful gladiators have lavish banquets--it'd certainly fit that Roman angle. So mayhaps there will be some meals for us cooking types to try our hands at!

I think we had a 16 year-old in our last contest, Gabool, so not everyone is much older, though I think most average out at about early-to-mid 20's (23, myself). And snap, you drew your avatar? I noticed it over on the RAF and was curious if you'd done it. Do you have more of your artwork posted up somewhere? I would love to see some of it!

Real talk, though: what's your favorite and least favorite Redwall book, and why?
the answer is mossflower and outcast of redwall, respectively

I don't act mature there. At all. (And the Redwall stuff is old).
I also have a YouTube but it's intentionally terrible so I'm gonna make you work for that, if you really want to find it it will show up.

Lessee...
I have many favorites, Mattimeo, The Legend of Luke, Lord Brocktree, and Taggerung, for starters, but the main book that screams "worst" to me is Triss.
Man that was boring.

And I have a signed copy of Rakkety Tam but unfortunately I wasn't crazy about that one either.

Never mind. I kid, I kid. Funnily enough Vera has a signed copy of Long Patrol. Makes me super jealous....

Istvan

Hey I'm Jarrtail, I've been around for many a long year now, with many characters to my name but the only one worth reading is Istvan. Currently residing in Russia until July, and looking forward to infusing my apps with some vodka-inspired incomprehensibility.

Lilith wasn't bad.

And Russia - wow! Guess that puts you in a bit of a different time zone than the rest of us. Glad to see you resurface, Ist! I was worried for a while there that something drastically awful had happened to you when you vanished. It's good to see you again.

Vizon

Oh yes, and I'm Vizon. I draw. And write. Welcome to the community, Gabool. It's a good one.
