Jarrtail

Certainly depressing to people who see people using it.

Wait, are you saying marijuana is a depressant?

Yes, it is.  The usual argument for legalizing it is that the effects of marijuana is the same as alcohol.

Considering the fact that drunk driving is the number one killer of people under the age of 25, how many want to double the number of impared drivers?

And just as a side note, my former boss believed alcohol improved one's driving skills.

...it's not a stimulant, is it? I don't know these things

Well, all I'm saying is that Keane's mom was definitely behaving more like a crack addict than a pothead. :x

Also, whoa you guys. I never said I was pro-balm or nuthin'. ;P

Rath the Whirlwind

Sorry, Sparrowhawk, but catnip does effect ferrets.  Not exactly in the same way it effects cats, but it does.
I am the white void.  I am the cold steel.  I am the just blade.  With axe in paw shall I reap the sins of this world and cleanse it in the fires of destruction.  I am the Whirlwind; the end has come!

So then... is Balm really catnip?

And pardon me for saying, but...

QuoteThe usual argument for legalizing it is that the effects of marijuana is the same as alcohol.

That's a ridiculous argument.
And then he DIED!!!

Wiki tells me that field balm is an alternate name for the plant. So, yeah.

It's... actually both a stimulant and a depressant. It lowers blood pressure, but increases heart rate. It's a psychoactive, so it mostly intensifies your mood/personality. A mellow person might most commonly have mellow highs. A fairly psycho person (like Rath during battle), would "tweak". Like he kind of did.

EDIT: I think Balm would fall into these effects. Catnip to cats seems to be a euphoric, changing personality. Of my cats, one gets hyper, one gets mellow and rubs her face all over the floor with it. So... yeah. Kitty-pot.

That is so great. That's wonderful. That makes things a million times better.

Now, I'm not too sure about prolonged exposure to catnip. At least, I don't think I've ever seen a cat addicted to the stuff. But then again, they have less access to it than we do when it comes to other drugs. I know my cat, Caboodle, will get excited for about five seconds before losing interest, and others will go crazy for upwards of an hour, rubbing their faces, acting silly, all that jazz. Withdrawal? Like that? I dunno. It's a very interesting take on the thing.

Now, I've read articles that say that catnip can both affect and not affect ferrets. So that's a toss up. I'm going to have to grab some and see what Manwelica thinks of it. Speaking of which...

So it makes sense now that Keane came from an all feline society and had his customers. They were all cats. I wonder if he didn't know catnip affects other animals differently. And I wonder what would have happened if he failed to find the customer base he had back in his home town...
And then he DIED!!!

SELF-EDIT: Daww... Damask-fail. I should have known that the previous Tom Petty reference was there for a reason. XD

**eye twitch**

Good birdy...you...you fixed it...

:P

And yes, balm is catnip, and I did approximately two short web pages of research before writing the sub post, so yeah. It's supposedly only effective for 5-10 minutes or so, which is why Keane came down so quickly at the end (well that, and the whole being stabbed in the gut thing would be fairly sobering, I'd imagine).

How much would catnip affect a stoat? Would it get them high, or just smell weird?
And I hope that you know that nature is so
This same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land, and forests and sand,
Makes the beautiful world that you'll see in the morning

To all reviewers, past and present, thank you! I don't always find something to say in reply to each reviewer but I do my best to read them and will take their advice as best I can. You are appreciated!

I always wondered what my former boss would have done if he got caught in one of those sobriety checkpoints after a drink.  Can you imagine him telling a judge alcohol improves your driving skills?

Maybe he was just perpetually drunk, Cairn. ;P yeah, i could definitely see it happening in that case

I had thought 'Balm' was a name that Keane had made up for the drug, but now that I know  . . .  quite clever =D.

Rath. I love the fact that you're using fighting games for inspiration as titles. So much that I enjoy your titles more than anyone else.

"Guilty Gear", though... That's way too ... blunt, I guess. I liked "The Wheel of Fate is Turning" because it's subtle and you have to play the game to get it. When you take the title of the actual game, I'm just like, "Oh, it's a video game reference, just like Venril's. Not a BlazBlue reference."

So keep it up, but back off a little.
And then he DIED!!!

Listen, kids, I'm sorry about this. I have to put everything on hold for the time being.

My car stopped working... again. It's the same problem I fixed two months ago. Starter won't turn over, or respond at all. So two months ago I bought and installed a brand new starter. One of the best accomplishments of my life. Car worked great.

Guess what's not turning over, or responding at all.

So now it's turning out to be a wiring issue. *sigh* I can't take it to a shop because I don't have the money, so the game plan is trying to figure it out myself, and seeing what I can do. That will probably go nowhere. Point is, I'm going to miss out on voting this round. But if I did vote, it'd probably be the one I liked the least. So you can rest assured knowing that much.

...

I'm so mad.

EDIT BY TARA: That really sucks about your car (I've been there quite recently), but I still had to edit for minor language. ;_;
