Yes, it was Deadtail, unfortunately. It might seem vague at first, but if you read the last sentence of the post carefully it makes sense.

Or you can keep it a surprise from those of us that have to catch up from last week!

T_T

My car's in the shop. Turned out it was nothing I could have done myself, because the lock cylinder has to be replaced, which means I need new keys, which means they have to be programmed into my car's computer or something by the dealer. The conversation I had with the mechanic was pretty funny. Remember this was at the GM dealer.

I was like, "Wait a minute. I got pretty much the whole ignition replaced a few years ago. I remember because I needed new keys, which is exactly what you're telling me I'm going to need now. Doesn't that come with a warranty or something?"

He replies with, "It's 1200 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first."

So I said, "One year? The warranty is one year?"

His reponse? "That's GM."

It was the greatest conversation I've ever had.

On the plus side, since I told him exactly what was wrong with it and that I "know it's not a connection issue with the battery because I can jump the solenoid" and "all the wires checked out okay," he tells me (after I lamented about money), "You're going to need a new upper radiator hose, and your lower one should be next, but I'll let you handle that because you seem pretty mechanically inclined."

Definitely one of the best compliments I've ever received.

I'll start catching up this weekend.
And then he DIED!!!

Sowwy! :'(

Sucks about your car. Mine had to go back to the shop TWICE this week. Wouldn't start on Monday, we wiggled some stuff in the general area of the starter (which was replaced exactly one month ago from that day), got it to start somehow, took it in, they tested the battery, said it was bad, changed it. We thought, yey, it's fixed! Tuesday. Wouldn't start again. Called the mechanic, and he was flabbergasted. Fiddled with stuff under the hood and got it to start again. He put ANOTHER starter in and checked the wiring because it wasn't getting power to it. Thankfully though, the warranty still covered the starter, so we didn't get charged for that, but all my leftover cash from my savings bond and birthday money went to a stupid battery. Fail. ;_;

I'm pretty sure I have the least reliable Toyota Corolla ever. Even my old rusty '81 Corolla started more often (you just had to try several times and pump the gas a lot, but eventually it did! :P). And it sucks because the brakes really need fixing but every time we think we'll be able to get them fixed, something else goes out! Grah!

It seems like everyone here is having trouble with their cars (sorry about that guys - hope it gets better). I recently got mine back from the dealership after about a month of waiting - and it's an American made Dodge car, and American-mades have short lives compared to the European cars. Ugh.
The door sometimes refused to open, and one morning we got in to discover that it refused to go backwards, and it was facing into the driveway.

Guys, there is a HUGE lack of otters.
And then he DIED!!!

Suellyn

The otters just keep getting killed off. Tara killed one in the Prologue (Medjool ate her). Then Venril killed one in that mad dash into the caves going after the slaves. So they're there, they're just sort of dropping like flies. sorry.

No thanks to Rath! When are we gonna get our candle-lit dinner over otter brains?

Damask/Eliza/Venril has nothing on some good old fashioned R'n'R!

Phwah! As if! Our love triangle comes complete with poetry and manly acts of worth-proving. Yours has... drugs.

She walks in beauty, like the night
of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
meet in her aspect and her eyes...

Totally still working on the RV5 epilogue, I swear...

It's quite a varied and therefore . . . interesting love triangle. Great food for the plot  :).

Guys, there is a HUGE lack of otters.

Maybe nobody applied as an otter.  Hard to imagine an otter in a desert setting.  Not saying it couldn't, or hasn't, been done.  Think I made that observation when the title of this contest was announced.  As far as NPC, they are like the extras in a horror movie.  They are the first to go.
In life, the only thing that ever adds up is a column of numbers.

Sparrowhawk

So they're like redshirts from Star Trek!

...awwwww. :(

Erethas

Hopefully there will be a lot of otters in the Redventure 6, if there is going to be one. I love otters . . .

Well, there was an otter named Tishka in one of Revel's posts, who I believe is still alive. So there's still hope, Syc!
