Oh, great, Revel! Now everybody knows the secret ingredient in brkich! :p
She walks in beauty, like the night
of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
meet in her aspect and her eyes...

Totally still working on the RV5 epilogue, I swear...

Revel

You should be grateful I haven't told everyone that you suck your paw at night or bunch up your dress into a teddyweasel shape and call it Mr. Bundy. *sticks out tongue*
And I hope that you know that nature is so
This same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land, and forests and sand,
Makes the beautiful world that you'll see in the morning

To all reviewers, past and present, thank you! I don't always find something to say in reply to each reviewer but I do my best to read them and will take their advice as best I can. You are appreciated!

Too bad I'm not familiar with the RedVenture series or I would be doing one of those "list of firsts" for this contest.  I'm betting this is the first time a "dead contestant" ever posted something after his death post where he is given credit.

I do have a question for everyone.  Considering the pace of the chapters, is anyone concerned that we could go the entire week without anything happening to our contestants?  I'm just curious knowing how everyone will judge these posts if the interlude is all we get from everyone.

It is nice having a change of pace and some perspective on events at the oasis.  Yet the real story is underground.  Should we expect everyone to do a post entitled "interlude" and one with their character?  Should we dock a writer who ignores the outside world and continues the adventure, or do the exact opposite?

And that too must be a bit of a first.  A series of posts in no way directly connected to the contestants.

Don't forget the insane amount of co-writing in posts. ^.^

I think you should factor in the interludes as... half-posts from others. So, for example... If Revel is doing badly, and so is Venny. Revel wrote an interlude, Venny did not, it makes a good tipping point.

Just my opinion...

The posts are uploaded under one name.  Another may have contributed, but the final AUTHORity is clear.  And that too is --- just my opinion.

And yes, I know you have to collaborate on your posts.  That is expected.

Err... well, not really.

True, you can say that the poster is the author. 'Tis your right to say what you will. Now, whether or not that's correct...

For instance, Bellona posted the River Interlude. It was, quite literally, written by all three of us: Bells, Deadtail, and myself. We each wrote a third and Bellona, for the most part, fixed the exposition to make ti flow.  As for these interludes -- many are co written: as in, one author writes half, another writes another half, and then either one or both edits to make style more cohesive. True, only one can post it, but that doesn't make them the author.

This is very different than the typical, "Correct Deatail's accent for me," that happens for every post. If there is a note on collaboration, then it is a reasonable amount of co-writing.

Again, you can have whatever opinion you like, as far as reviews and voting are concerned. Who writes what, however, is fact.

And you can see why I'm hoping for at least one post in character.

Collaberations do make it hard assigning either credit or blame for what is written.  If every interlude posting is done that way, the audience will either have to rely on the previous week's postings to determine who to eliminate or will have to consider who contributed to which posts.  Since credit isn't given whichever author wrote a specific segment, there's always the possibilty of readers assigning blame or credit to the wrong author.

Using your example, there is no way we could know who contributed what to this post.  Was the accented dialogue Deadtail's contribution?  Did Bellona create the character of Sagaru, or embellish an already existing NPC?  Did Damask establish the settings?  And though this is called a collaberation, there is nothig stating that, which is something Revel did in her post by crediting Eliza.

My point is the difficulty for the readers who wish to make an honest effort at selecting the best writer or storyteller each week.  It is why I stress the point of having a second chapter ready for uploading that is about your character.

You made a point that some of the authors might not be doing an intelude styled post.  Don't know how that cold be perceived.  Some may wonder if they deliberately evaded the interlude for the reasons I stated earlier.  Others could consider it a demerit for not doing one.  It can cloud the issue when it comes time to vote.

Of course, this whole debate becomes moot if each writer/contestant does upload a post featuring their character.

Seconded. Don't worry, Cairn! It'll be fine, just wait and see!

Good, that makes me happy. It's fun that the different authors are collaborating, but as Cairn said, it makes it difficult to jude. As long as each author posts a character post . . . then, great  :).

Has anyone here caught this reference? ::) I fell of the chair laughing when I saw it.

Also, what happened to Eliza in the post? I didnt quite 'get' the end.

My guess is that Rath gave her some of Keane's Balm. Heh! She deserved it, the prisspaws.

The only reference I can think of is the story "Beauty and the Beast," but I'm probably wrong.  How about enlightening us, Dirgecallers?
