Damask the Minstrel

Yup. Eliza sees a fat stoat sitting there and will call her flabby. Also: pregnant bellies aren't flabby if they grow from taut bellies. If they grow from flabby bellies then they are still flabby with a hard underneath.

Granted. I skimmed the post in the Apple Store and that was one of the only lines I actually read, so I had no context to place it in.

Hey, kids. I just got up to Venril's post and I have to say I'm not enjoying the story like I was earlier.

I understand you're under some sort of expediting process to catch up with things, but we're glossing over a lot of events and I'm having trouble following along. I think the only reason I'm not lost completely is because I read the prologue, and you seem to be just hitting specific events and jumping to the next one.

What I would rather have seen was more of an extension. More of an extended prologue than the jumps like what's going on now. I would have loved to see some characterization of the featured lizard instead of just, "Some lizard killed an ottermaid. Now Matukhana is talking to him."

As such, because of these jumps, things are now going too fast, and its jarring from the leisurely pace you adopted before. I'm also upset that I won't be seeing a lot of what I was hoping to see. The prologue gave me a taste, and you guys were feeding it to me. Now I feel as though you're taking it back.
And then he DIED!!!

I agree.  It is almost as if the first week was the prologue.  If you read that, the only thing the readers learned are the names of several characters.  As for the story, it stagnated.

I, for one, find it amusing that the reviewers took a complete 180.  What do I mean by this?  Well..

"OMG WHY ARE YOU STILL ON THE SHIP YOU SHOULD BE AT THE OASIS BY NOW"

And then...

"OMG WHY DID YOU LEAVE THE SHIP SO QUICKLY"

Just goes to show, writers, that you shouldn't jump to everything the audience says, because most of the time we don't really mean it, really :P

Edit: Oh, by the way, I'm actually enjoying the story and character development.  Sure, I was a little confused by the jump from the ship to the oasis, but it's really not that big of a deal.  More of a little speed bump, and then back to the action.

We had planned on reaching the Oasis by the end of Week One regardless of what the reviewers were saying, m'am. There was just a bit of poor execution as those of us at the end of the line were rushing those ahead to come up with something so we could all get a second post in before the deadline. I would ask the voters to show some mercy, then, to folks like Sue and Venril who, as Captain Ashpaw pointed out, got the short end of the stick there.
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.

Ah, all-righty then!  Duly noted.

If you read the prologue, everyone left the ship.  When the story had the characters boarding a ship, I initially thought this a different ship than the one mentioned in the prologue.  Then I found out this was the same ship, so it makes sense they left fast.

At least we have most of the characters in one spot at the end of Week One.  Seemed to take forever in QB-5, and I'll not assign all the blame to the writers in that one since the audience determined the story's flow.

When did I EVER say this?

Ergo, the writers should listen to Sycamore, and only Sycamore.

Very true.  I admit... that was completely out-of-line on my part, as those were views from totally different people, who of course have different opinions.  We're all allowed our own view, and just 'cause it wasn't mine, doesn't make it horrid forever.  So... I'm ver' sorry.  *offers cookies and tea*

You start with Pink Floyd, and then ...

QuoteSeveral moments later and the two mustelids were resting a safe distance from the tree, spattered from ears to tail with bits of shell, coconut milk, and fruit, and dooking madly.

You're my favorite.

Knowing who used that word so often in QB-5, I would be very suspicious.  But I would think you would be more honorable, so I'm going to chalk it up to somebody else having a pet ferret or getting that term from QB-5.

More honorable? How so? You don't think I can't love my own character?

I would question your honor if I learned you were a contestant in this adventure.  There is a bit of self-serving if you did reviews that might influence voters.

Hey, I believe that Syc could give himself honest reviews. I trust him!
