Rules for Applying and Application Categories

Rules for Applying:

•   There will be a 600 word limit to your application. Limitations breed creativity, and by installing this tight word limit onto your application, it will show me how well you can write under pressure, while also getting your character's personality and traits to shine through in a short period. The key to success here is to simply keep in mind what is important to showcasing your character and what isn't. I will be using this site to check how many words you use, so as to have no discrepancies between different writing software: http://www.wordcounter.net/

•   Your character must be 100% original. This is to say you may not apply with a character which already exists within an outside canon-whether it belongs to you or not, one that you've already used in an RP on another site or forum, or as a canon character within the Redwall novels. The character should be brand new and created specifically for this contest.

•   Once your application is finished you will submit it using the following form-   https://forms.gle/hZGZtDHQg4NPVhZa9

•   You may submit up to three applications total, but only one per category.

•   You must register for an account on the forums. You are not required to post or anything, but I need a name to put next to your applications so that I can make sure everyone is only sending in just 3. Please do not register under the same name as one of your character applications.

•   There will be a strict anonymity rule. Please do not tell anyone which characters you have written, as it has the potential to skew voting. If, however, you have managed to discover the identity of another character or writer, please respect it and keep the knowledge only to yourself. Anonymity is key in these contests, and I should be the only one during the judging and application process that knows your identity. As is usual, I am taking this rule very seriously, and if it's not respected, I can and will have you expelled from the competition or banned from the forums.

•   Applications and story posts must be written in English, 3rd person perspective, past tense. This is mostly done to keep writing styles similar enough to where it doesn't jar a potential reader.

•   The story rating will be PG-13. This means that I will be allowing writers a bit more leniency when it comes to the levels of violence that they will be able to include within their work. However, due to the fact that the story will also be posted on Fanfiction.net, I would prefer if swearing and sexual content be kept to a bare minimum. If you are unsure if your applications or chapters are past the rating, you can send them to me and I will check for you. With this in mind, if writing becomes public, then that means I consider it meeting this rating.

•   Anyone can take part in the voting. You can vote for your own character to make it into the top 10 if you would like, or participate in the 'death' vote at the end of the week, even if you're one of the writers.

•   Your application must take place before the events of the prologue. This mostly means that you won't meet Mekai or know of Nest until the story begins.

The Categories:

In Mossflower Odyssey V: Heaven-sent, you will be playing the part of a skilled mercenary who operates within the harsh Northlands of Mossflower, currently visiting a port village past the northern mountains. After being hired by a determined priestess named Mekai, you have set off with your client on a mission to protect her village from savage invaders and a terrifying creature who claims to be a god. The warriors you can be are-
