Safari can be really stupid sometimes. And yet I continue to use it almost exclusively. Probably just because it's what I'm used to. At least it's not as bad as IE. :P

Not really saying much, but I agree with you. I use IE though, just because I'm that stubborn.  :P

Voting already? I've got to catch up!

I was able to log on to different computers and give each author one vote each.
And then he DIED!!!

If true, I would be most disappointed.  And I'm not talking just about your inability to select a writer, but with the inference that the voting can be gamed through such a simple dodge.  Would think voting requires one to be logged onto the system to prevent such ballot box stuffing.
In life, the only thing that ever adds up is a column of numbers.

It goes by IP address. So... yes. If you connect to four different computers (at different IPs), you can vote multiple times.

For the first few weeks, I emlpoyed that to cast my vote, and my wife's. When she fell behind in reading, we simply voted once from our home's IP.

The problem with requiring authentication to vote, Cairn, is that you lose a lot of the guest readers' vote if they have to go through the hassle of creating an account. I know it seems simple to take 5 minutes to register, but even that amount turns off some.

...And why, pray tell, did you do this? It doesn't technically affect the votes, and I was in a rush last night and wasn't able to check the last couple votes (I will be now ), but still, why would you break the rules like that? Never do it again. *goes to check on the extra work load*

I've heard of people using that trick before on other websites.  That's why Redscape requires you to PM me the results.  Stonewall did the same thing on MM.  Yes, it's a minor inconvenience to lurkers, but it's secure, and it's also pretty easy to set up for people who aren't good with web coding.

I'm kind of an amateur when it comes to building websites, but I think having an actual website to go along with a contest does make it look a little more...professional, I guess? Especially for the contestant list, so you don't have to go searching through the forums to find out who's even in it. Not to say MM and RS aren't professional, that's just my opinion on it. :P

I took an HTML class way back in high school, but I generally do a Google search for a tutorial when I need to know/forgot how to do something. I couldn't even code my own voting program though; I read some tutorials and they just went right over my head. ;_;

Brolmo.com is good though. It was the only decent polling program I could find that was free, customizable, and able to track IPs.

An all-girl top three! Though that's not unprecedented, I guess - in fact, I think it might actually be the all-male top three that hasn't happened yet? I could be wrong, I dunno.

Jarrtail

I think that all-female is more typical. Interestingly, there seem to be more females in these contests than males.

Stonewall

All female top three? Again?

*Glances over at Mercy, Maro, and Rufelle* Hurm... I wonder if it's man's curse to make it into a RV...
