Oooooh, there's nine applications now. That means every application from now on is where the JUDGEMENT happens.

Everything about Gaston's song is pure lyrical genius. How about a monitor that eats five dozen eggs every morning, so now it's roughly the size of a barge?

Frost

That reminds of me of Joanna from 'Rescuers Down Under.'  ^-^
Well, if he (or she) uses antlers in all of their decorating, that might get a bit awkward...unless they harvest jackalopes? Perhaps from the high cliffs of Salamandastron?
Hello again.

Rousseau

I've updated my guessing for what each application is.

Quote"Every last inch of him's covered with hair!"

That would work here, unless of course the character is a monitor or a bird or has a strange furless disorder of some kind...

So, in summary, we need a furred creature who eats 5 dozen eggs a morning until he's roughly the size of a barge (obvious hare), who uses antlers for all of his decorating, is loved by the local town, and wields a bow and arrow because after all... "No one shoots like Gaston."

Don't forget that he must be especially good at expectorating!

I think I see a Pratchett fan in all those names.  Sneaky.  I'm onto you!

Another name update

Ok I'm going to have a rather pathetic go at guessing.

Alder Flint - Male member of the Yew Guard. I'm guessing an otter or a squirrel. It's quite a traditional name choice. I like it.

Gashrock - At first I thought it would automatically be part of the troupe, but I guess it could be some kind of tough-guy woodlander as well.

Gilbrecht - I think it's a male name, but that's all I can tell. Sounds fairly neutral in terms of alignment. I'm going to guess it's one of the merchants.

Goragula - Some kind of exotic vermin. Might be a seer vixen's name. Hopefully not, because that's twink territory all over.

Grainger - Woodlander, I think - perhaps a bookish, intelligent sort? I want it to be a mouse. Nobody ever writes as mice, and they're so cute. :(

Hanifaw - One of the Yew Guards? Makes me think he will have a Scottish accent. I don't know why.

Nyika - A tricksy merchant type. I'm thinking a fox or a mustelid.

Risk - I don't really like the name. That may or may not be because I wrote a story when I was 9 where the main character was an orphan called Risk, the biggest mary-sue of all time. Don't be that.

Terrence Wellspiller - Really, really like this name. I think he's an otter. One that. Spills from wells. Of course.

Vanessa Fern - I think she's a woodlander, but it doesn't really sound like a Yew Guard so perhaps a merchant? Sounds kind of flouncy.

Vist - Part of the troop. For some reason I think it will be a young, nasty character, a bit like Cricket in RV4.

Alder Flint- I'm getting an otter vibe from this one. Woodlander, yew guard, probably an established military figure rather than a pup still wet behind the ears.

Ben Slider- Traditional name! I can see a mouse out of this one. Guard member, maybe, since this name was posted after the spread was revealed.

Gashrock- I'm going to echo Rousseau and say badger with a rock as his primary weapon of choice. You know, a rock with which he likes to gash beasts with. It'd be pretty creepy if he carries it around and all the blood from his victims is all congealed over it. Maybe he licks it to remind himself of the kills he's made. Maybe he's a vermin, instead.

Gilbrecht- Sounds like a squirrel to me, part of the guard or a merchant. Another male, too. This one is a toss up. I can't glean much out of the name alone.

Goragula- Probably a vermin spider or something. Something exotic, so an uncommon species, like wolf or marlfox or foxwolf or wolverine or something. It's weird enough to make him a Durhurst Player. But if he's a Dewhurst, then I would say a more common species like stoat or weasel or ferret or rat before a wolf or wolverine. More likely to be a Dewhurst Player, less likely to be an exotic species. Most likely to be wrong, haha.

Grainger- Probably otter, and the name is too close to ranger, so another of the Guard. Probably a young whippersnapper still wet behind the ears. Would work well with Flint.

Hanifaw- Vermin merchant, I'd say, female because this is the first feminine-type name that speaks out to me. Can't really tell species... Ferrets/weasels/stoats all kind of have similar naming conventions to me, but a mustelid nonetheless.

Istvan- Merchant, male. Exotic name calls for a rat that sells spices.

Nyika- Female wildcat, definitely. Nyika screams wildcat. Another exotic name, so I can see a merchant or a contortionist in the Dewhurst Players. Them cats can make some awkward positions.

Risk- Otter or squirrel, probably, and part of the guard. He likes to take risks, what else can I say?

Terrence Wellspiller- Another otter, guard or merchant, though he has a rather traditional name, so I can see a higher chance of being a guard than a merchant.

Vanessa Fern- Ooh! Traditional name calls for a traditional species, like a mouse or a vole. Merchant-type, maybe a slave or something because those are always fun to play.

Vist- Dewhurst Player, another mustelid type, although I wouldn't be surprised to see a wily merchant that likes to cheat his customers.
And then he DIED!!!

Just curious. Is anyone else incapable of saying "Hanifaw" in anything other than a thick Southern accent, or is it just me? :D

I think JK Rowling has affected your opinion on this one, Aleisou. ;)

EDIT: Ah, though I see Rousseau has already made the Hermione connection...

Opal

Am I the only one that thought of Percy Grainger? ^^

I'm getting more of the Lone Grainger than anything else.

I think I've been on facebook too long. I was seriously looking for the "like" button on your comment for a second there, Sycamore. Made me laugh.
