So, I would be really interested in memorializing our contest with a tvtropes page of its very own. What is TVtropes, you ask? Well, read no further if you are short on time or need to get things done today, because TVtropes is an incredibly addictive website consisting of a wiki-style catlogue of writers' conventions, concepts and tools used in fiction (and sometimes nonfiction). Go to tvtropes.org and search just about any series you like to see how it works. Beware, though, this IS an incredibly time-consuming website, as every page links to many other pages. If you can't think of anything off the top of your head, Dr. Who and Fullmetal Alchemist provide pretty good examples of how TVtropes pages can/should look. I see this as a good way of both memorializing our story after it is over, and of possibly attracting a few new faces as well.

At minimum, I would like to see a main page and a character page with entries for each charactr and major NPCs. I was thinking that we could start this by listing tropes entries in this thread, before making a real page. Vizon, is it alright if we use our avatars on a TVtropes page? I'd really like to be able to have pictures of our characters on the character page if we do this.

NB: Remember to write tropes about survivor contests in general for an audience that is not necessarily familiar with them.

CHARACTERS: THE NINE

--

Gashrock
-Heroic Neutral
-Ms. Fixit - Gashrock's sewing skills save the day in ways she never would have imagined.
-Resigned to the Call
-Teeth-Clenched Teamwork
-Unlikely Hero
-Verbal Tic - Gashrock sure has a funny way of speaking, innit? ...and owt.
-Wrench Wench - The Redwallian equivalent.

Goragula
-Affably Evil
-Beast of Wealth and Taste
-Death Glare
-Enigmatic Minion
-From Nobeast to Nightmare
-Impaled Paw - Right from his app you can tell that Goragula doesn't play around.
-The Mole - Not literally, of course.
-Money, Dear Boy
-Pragmatic Villainy - Goragula works with the team because he wants to survive.
-Teeth-Clenched Teamwork

Istvan
-Anti-Hero
-Death Glare
-Establishing Character Moment - His first chapter involves Istvan slitting the throats of the wounded avalanche survivors to return their blood to the all-mother. This didn't exactly help him to cozy up to the other living survivors.
-Eye Scream - During his torture at the paws of Tikora.
-Good Is Not Nice
-If I Wanted You Dead
-Stoic Woobie - Istvan has not had an easy life, but he doesn't spend much time moping or angsting. He might not admit it, but he needs a hug.
-Undying Loyalty - To Nyika
-Unfunny

Noonahootin
-Badtail Moustache - He's very proud of it, too.
-Berserk Button - Betrayal of any kind. And Vulpuz help you if you dare to hurt anybeast under his protection.
-The Captain
-The Chains of Commanding
-Hot Blooded
-Large Ham
-No Indoor Voice
-Papa Wolf
-Screaming Warrior
-Undying Loyalty - To his team.
-Verbal Tic - Tends to add hoots to his speech here and there.

Nyika
-Anti-Hero
-Badtail Damsel
-Break the Cutie - And HOW.
-Crouching Moron Hidden Badtail - Nyika isn't as helpless or innocent as she may seem.
-Easily Forgiven - It's kind of scary how much she gets away with.
-In The Hood - Keeps her face hidden for the second half of the story after she gives herself the Cutter's Mark.
-It's All About Me - Nyika is not exempt from pity parties.
-Let's Get Dangerous - After spending the first half of the story cowering behind the others, Nyika takes on a mob boss and comes out on top without any help at all.
-The Woobie

Poko
-Cigar of Anxiety
-Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu? - Did you just defeat the Harfang with a piece of string AND blow up a city?
-Little Miss Snarker
-Loveable Rogue
-Motor Mouth
-Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!
-Sticky Paws - She learns to hold back after Istvan catches her, though.
-Tsundere - She tsuns more than she deres, but it's definitely there.

Risk
-The Ace - This guy has a ballad written about him and his own action figure.
-Affectionate Nickname - Cookie
-Anti-Hero
-Badtail and Child Duo - With both Nyika and Poko.
-Big Brother Instinct - More like father instinct in this case.
-Dumb Muscle
-Even Evil Has Standards - He's committed all kinds of atrocities, but he still saved an unborn Nyika from death.
-Extreme Melee Revenge - Against the moles.
-Glory Days
-One Beast Army - Or at least he was rumored to be.
-Papa Wolf
-Retired Badtail
-Undying Loyalty - Literally!

Vanessa
-Berserk Button - As some ermine found out the hard way.
-The Big Gal
-Boisterous Bruiser
-Don't You Dare Pity Me - After she loses her paw.
-Extreme Melee Revenge - Against the ermines who killed her father.
-Hot Blooded
-I Am Not My Father
-Idiot Hero - Vanessa certainly isn't stupid but she's reckless and impulsive enough to get herself and the rest of the group in trouble.
-Lady of War

Zevka
-Anti-Hero
-The Combat Pragmatist
-Deadpan Snarker
-Fastball Special - Infamously performed once with a mole-babe with mixed results.
-Genre Savvy - Shown right away during her application even.
-Heroes Prefer Swords - Istvan carries a sword as well, but Zevka seems to fit this trope more.
-I Did What I Had To Do - The earlier incident with the mole along with a mercy-killing earlier in the story.
-Knight in Sour Armor
-Mentor - Even referenced in a post-title!
-Team Mom

Noonahootin

I LOVE TVTropes, and it is terrifically addictive. I can accidentally spend so much time on there.

It would be a lot of work, but if enough people contribute, this is do-able.

#4
General stuff. Should probably organize this at some point

After-Action Healing Drama- Noonahootin's surgery
Almost Out Of Oxygen- Valkyrie Always a Bigger Fish- Aster vs. Tikora
A Tail Kicking Christmas- the story takes place early winter, does that count?
Bad Habits- Nyika at Tikora's dinner, and Istvan in Carrigul to an extent
Band of Brothers- this one doesn't even need to be explained
Break the Badtail- Istvan in The Chennault Error, Vanessa after her paw is cut off
The Cavalry- Cleite's triumphant (and delicious) return
Curb-Stomp Battle- Istvan and Tikora
Friend to All Children- Istvan and Risk's interactions with Nyika and Poko (one attempted stabbing nonwithstanding)
Great Escape- from the moles, Tikora, the burning foundry, etc
Impossible Mission Collapse- That plan to infiltrate Tikora's domain didn't really work very well
Infant Immortality-Tikora inverts this so hard
Innocuously Important Episode- Chink in the Dragon's Scales
Life or Limb Decision- too easy
Misfit Mobilization Moment- Buddy Cop Movie and Can I Really Be the Hero?
My Name is Inigo Montoya- Istvan's quite fond of introducing himself
No One Gets Left Behind- far, far too many examples to list. Notably when Zevka and Gashrock are captured, when Istvan is captured, and when Nyika is trapped in the burning foundry
Open Says Me- Zevka has no patience for your complicated pipe puzzles
Out of Character Alert- Mekad's letter to Zevka (the tipoff being the implication that they're in a relationship, which doesn't stop Vanessa from assuming that they are nonetheless)
Out of Sight, Out of Mind- aaaaaaaand there goes the group's only bag of food
The Purge- only speculation at this point, but Istvan certainly isn't going to be well-disposed towards the priests he just inherited
Right Under Their Noses- let's attend the murderous psychopath's dinner party! There's no way we'll be found out!
Rooftop Confrontation- in this corner, we have Poko and Nyika, and in the other corner, we have Aster and a newborn weasel
Secret Underground Passage- Conveniently located right below an expensive-looking statue
Storming the Castle- Glass Heart
Suddenly Always Knew That- Nyika's medical skills
There Was a Door- Istvan pulls a Kool-Aid Man at the end of Buddy Cop Movie
This Way to Certain Death- beautiful, beautiful bone pillars
Unstoppable Rage- Vanessa in Valkyrie, Istvan in Glass Heart
Vertical Kidnapping- Aster and the weaselbabe
Violence is Disturbing- more or less a central theme of the story, especially Istvan and Nyika's character arc
Violence is the Only Option- Tikora is not the negotiating type

Istvan specifically (most apply to the beginning of the story)
Token Religious Teammate
Knight Templar
Black and White Insanity (never really lets this one go, totally)
Lawful Stupid

Zevka
Outgrown Such Silly Superstitions (while this trope applies primarily to sci-fi, Anachronistic Atheist sadly isn't an official trope)

Nyika

Matra Hammer

I think Extreme Melee Revenge will be the name of the band my character is the head of for the next contest.

foxpen

I've been trapped on TVTropes for hours now.

THANKS GUYS

Nessa:

Action Girl: Nessa is based on this trope, not as much "Lady of War"

Badass Boast: Cummon, no one saw this one? Seriously? This is Nessa's favorite pastime apart from fighting (i.e. ?Aye, aye, who?s the braw one ready tae git ?is face in the dirt next, ye scairt jelly-legs? Step oop an? meet the daughter o? Ravenna Riverflash o? the Stormloch Clan! Ah was born in a battle, amidst the fire o? Cucharok! The enemy took one look at me chewin? on a halberd an? ran off yellin? mercy! Ye wanna see yer death? Weel yer lookin? at et noo!?)

Back-To-Back Badasses: In "Hittin' on All Sixes", Zevka and Nessa do this briefly. I personally wanted to do more with this trope.

Tsundere:  Did not get to explore this as much, honestly, but if we'd have ever seen Nessa get into a romantic relationship we would have seen lots more of it.
