Ah, yes, the classic shushing of the inanimate object. Nice, Crue. If there was anyone about, I'm sure they'd have come running by now.

Wait, Blade didn't come up with this on his own? Where'd he get it from, then?

"Oh, you're THAT captain. Right." Methinks Ciera won't be too happy with that.

Loved this post. We get to see a little more modern technology through the eyes of our intrepid healer, we see Tooley again, and Crue gets captured. Again. There a couple of odd word choices, but otherwise, a great post! I must find out more!

Fires Burn at Midnight

Tooley! Post numero uno plus one! I love it when we get more than one from a character. You think they're done, and suddenly, it's like finding one last cookie at the bottom of a jar you thought was empty. Yay! Mmmm, cookie.

Oh, right. He was following Ciera. I guess there were beasts around to hear that commotion Crue made with the lantern. Bad lantern!

Daw, Tooley! So desperate to keep her from hurting his friends! If a bit misguided...

Man, Ciera's so cold! He still has some use? Why did she ever have his respect?

You know, for someone who despises regular pirates, she isn't much different. Loyalty is just something that gets lost in the darker elements. I wonder where Tooley got it.

Ciera wanted to change the world. But what seemed so glamorous will actually change things in a way she never expected. And it seems she doesn't like the changes that will come.

And then there's Tooley. He knows something has to be done! Not for himself, but for others. That's the greatest difference between Tooley and Ciera. Their motivations.

And now he's caught. Great. The action never lets up! This is so exciting!

What's the big deal with taking him all the way up there? Is he just lazy?

"He didn't understand what any of that meant, but it sounded bad." Oh, Tooley.

Ooh! Fight scene! Go, Tooley, Go!

Somebody recognized him. GASP! He's been recognized!

We're off to kill the Pirate, the Horrible Piraty King. The things he did, believe me, kid, you never heard such a thing! Yoof, Tooley's got his work cut out for him!

A Pirate's Life is Not For Me

Ciera? Ciera,what are you doing? Why were you sneaking around the shipyard?

Aha, so that?s where she got the name for the cannons. It hadn?t been mentioned before. Sense has been made!

Snort, of course not! Blade?s the only one who can have power. I wonder if he plans to share it with anybody. Including Ciera. If I were her, I?d be watching very closely after this little reveal.

?Hey, that?s right! We?re supposed to be doing Piraty things!? Accent included.

So...they?re not pirates anymore? What does that make them now?

Piracy for Piracy?s sake! That should be his motto. He?s all, ?Let?s save the pirates!? then kills their, um, ideals. Whichever ones they might have. If they have any.

I thought it was bad luck to rename a ship. Or was a ship that was sunk and raised again? I can?t remember.

So...she just...leaves. And that?s it. Huh. That?s...disappointing. I?m going to have to speak to Bob about this.

Weak sauce! She just leaves? That?s not like Ciera! What does she plan to do now, hide from Blade for the rest of her life? He thinks she?s on his side, and when he finds out, he?ll feel like she betrayed him. Again. He won?t just let that go. Is she going to assemble her own pirate crew, and say, ?Boo, you?re not a pirate! Look at me, I?m a real pirate!? and stick out her tongue? Not happy, Bob. Not Happy.

His ideals technically. As he once wanted to make an empire where pirates could be united and free, but has now changed the way they work to simply give himself more power.

Ciera looked up towards The Zephyr. Right past it, a group of small vessels - small enough that an experienced beast could likely sail them alone- were tied to the docks, rocking gently in the waves. She sighed.

I agree with our OP on the Ciera front. The justification for her leaving is there, but, gah, tis a sad way to see anybeast go. Especially a character as influential and well done as Ciera. Seemed a bit rushed. An appropriate but fast way out.

I'm guessing there was some IRL gremlins pulling at Ciera's coat? Seems that way from the guest posting.

Yes, Ciera got pretty sick and was unable to write her post so I was forced to sub it. When I asked her what she would do, she told me that Ciera would likely just leave Blade behind.

I would have thought that the news that a captain defected (Ciera, How Could You!), another captain TRIED to defect (Greyjaw's not going anywhere, really), and Tooley was trying to steal treasure, or something, would have swept through the troops like the mange. Seriously, where are the gossips? Lying down on the job, man! Is Blade trying to keep it all hush, hush? OOh, that doesn't bode well for the weasel. Or maybe the kitchen is a little too out of the way for inveterate gossips.

Wait, mushroom and leek scones? I thought scones were sweet. I knew about the pasties... 'Course, I'm not from England, so what do I know?

See How Your Garden Grows

Whew. Okay. Finally got that last one out of my system. Mostly. Moving on! Chak! Let's see what's goin' on with our man on the inside. Hopefully it's stabbing Torin in the kidney.

Yowch. "Then again, if Nimbleton were around, Reedox would probably still have a tail." Harsh. Chak doesn't let up, even on himself!

How do you do it? First, it's Nimbleton, now it's the mole. I got quite attached just from a couple sentences, you know. How very Jacques of you.

I love how much Chak is growing as a character. Helping the struggling slaves, then helping with their work. It's touching how much he actually wants to help. Just hope Torin doesn't notice. Can he just trip over an axe now?

YES! YES! HIT HIM AGAIN! Ooh, manicuring instruments? Methinks you should go FIND VERA NOW!!!!!!!! Do the instruments have a helpful spot or two of blood to clue them in?

Very nice, Chak! It was really nice to have some justice for the slaves, especially after the last post. Now all I need is some comic relief... Maybe I'll just have to watch some cats on youtube or something. Oh, and thanks for killing off Torin. Couldn't have happened to a better guy. And I love where Chak is going now, can't wait to see how much he grows!

Okay! To the rescue! Finally, things are coming together. Mongooses, unite! Plus, liberators. Yee haw! Now, let's hope the slaves and mongooses don't kill each other by mistake.
