What would you like to see in the future RedwallSurvivor.com?

I've mentioned this before, but, ever since taking on the role of admin of Survivor, one of my main priorities was to completely revamp the actual website for our forum. At the moment... it's uhhh.... a little bland: http://redwallsurvivor.com/

Anyways, what I have planned at the moment is basically just a simple Wordpress style blog site- unless there's a web designer among our users who can help walk me through creating a better site and attaching it to the database in CPanel- On the site, I'll likely be putting up news and updates for current and upcoming contests and mini-contests, as well as teasers and other fun things, information about Survivor as a whole as well as a sort of collective 'database' on all the existing contests, etc. One thing we used to have was community written articles, and while I think that would be fun to include, I personally don't have the time to write any, and only want to include it if any of our users have any interest in talking about their experiences or the site itself.

Anyways, what this boils down to is just a simple question: What do you think would be a neat addition to the Redwall Survivor website? My ultimate hope is that we can figure out a way to give it a purpose that the forums don't serve- and maybe figure out a way to include the newly-established identity of our forum as a place for promoting writing growth. Any and all ideas are welcome.

I'm for the idea of a minimalist front page. Some nice art, a mission statement, and a direct link to the forums where the action is. Maybe a "this is new" area if we can assure its upkeep.

I am a web developer! Well, sort of. The only webs I have developed are cob webs over my Certificate :p

I am what a professional would call a 'amatuer' but if you need help with something let me know and I can either help or tell you what...maybe not to do?

What I want to see? A web site that is Easy to use. :)

I won't lie, the current web site set up almost made me miss this place all together. If I didn't do some digging and find the forum then I would never have known this place was still up and running xD

A simple easy to find "STORIES ARE HERE!" button or link to the forum would be great. Also, a gallery for people to put their art work in would be appreciated :)
