Foxpen, you are my new hero :3

This is a wonderful idea! I got so much more out of the apps by listening to them, especially with your voice work to make accents come to life. (Is it just me or did the snake sound a lot like Symetra from Overwatch? No one else thought that? No? Ok, moving on.) The hares Scottish accent was particularly fun to listen too. I'm sure everyone, contestents and readers, will be delighted in hearing the rest of the top 30.

Audio reviews were MYYYYY gimmick...

Joking aside, these are lovely, and like Rascal said, hearing the apps read aloud really gives you a new perspective.

About Kentigern though: I think he actually fits the category very well, namely because of these lines-

Quote?Times have changed, Kenti. They aren?t like that anymore. When was the last time a horde even appeared? Seasons ago, before either of us were born.?

?That ain?t what yer ma woulda said. Ah ken she?d??

?My mother,? seethed Bonnie, ?was as crazy as you.

Kentigern is a character living in the past and is ignoring the fact that times are changing. He believes that vermin are still out there causing ruin, despite all evidence suggesting the contrary, and is ignoring any complaints against him to strike out on this 'wild crusade,' to presumably eliminate them. He's a clever take on the category, not just being a lunatic, but instead having wild, crazy ideas about how the world is, and whether he's right or not remains to be seen- so it works as a May or May Not

I see what you mean, Airan, but I just don't see his ideals as crazy. Like I said in the review, I see he's a dreamer, nostalgic for times that are gone/fading. I suppose this view partially stems from the other apps I've read so far; vermin are still mistrusted in some, working to earn a place in 'goodbeast' society in others, or outright not liked. Kentigern doesn't seem wrong in his ideals when compared to some of the other applications. Still, it would be interesting to see if Kentigern's views change once he's in The Crater. Will his views of the world be reaffirmed and cemented even deeper, or will he finally come to see things Bonnie's way?

QuoteI see he's a dreamer
So I responded to this a little in my own review of Kent, but I don't see how this disqualifies him from maybe/maybe not being crazy. In fact, I think it helps. Dreams are the crazy things we think will never happen, right? You'd have to be almost, well, crazy to follow them. And think about Kentigern's (presumable) dream: eradication of verminkind.

I don't know about you, but that seems crazy. Or maybe he is just normal like you say. Who knows? I think he fits, personally.

I wonder if the writer for the (possibly) mad Scottish hare tried to convey his (possible) insanity a different way, or even keeping it off screen to be brought out in the contest. After all, we need not actually see the thief in the act of thieving, or the healer in the act of healing. Although it does help to actually see these things in action to know how they will preform their chosen role in the rest of the story. :3

Or... Maybe it turns out his family doesn't exist at all! Perhaps they were killed by vermin in the past and the hare just made up the entire concersation o.o spooky...but probably not the case otherwise the writer would have hinted at it xD

While I'm not American myself, I did try to give Aldridge a bit of a twang. I got a cowboy vibe from his first-person sunset! XD

Your not American? Huh, I couldn't tell xD

Regardless of what ever accent you use I am sure the writers are delighted to have their works brought to life in an auditory way c: Myself it helps me to catch things I may have otherwise glossed over while reading these apps. It is certainly helping with the voting process.

Nope, but I give ya a clue; my country turns 150 tomorrow! ; )

I sure hope the applicants, and everyone for that matter, enjoy the readings and find them, somehow, helpful.

On that note, here's another one for today.

The Beast Driven by Love

I'd like to mention that I looked up what a cross fox was; turns out, it's a colour variant of a Red fox. Sorry about that, Blu. However, I must reiterate the point I made in my audio review; it's not necessary to mention the subspecies in Blu's case, especially if it's just a colour variant. It's irrelevant to the character (at the moment...).

Next up, the Beast Driven by Revenge. I hope to get a bunch of these up today to finish the categories up. ; )

What a trooper! These are so much fun to listen to, foxpen. They've been a great help while I work, though I'm saving the last two to get me through tomorrow. Just got done with the Gabby beasts, and when you mentioned the echolocation thing, I was curious and did some Googling. While not bats specifically, apparently whales and dolphins have trouble echolocating with the amount of noise that ships give off. I have to imagine it's the same for bats, so probably the more noise present, the harder it would be to see. So like, when the crowd roars or cheers, suddenly your vision goes on the fritz.
