Yes...I never even bothered getting involved in QB5 discussion because of the rather hostile reviewing environment. I like it much better here!
Best in the world.

Happy birthday, Vlaine!

I kinda didn't know Rath was going to do a post on the ship as well when I was writing mine. The similarities are really coincidental! By the time I was done writing it, it was so long that I was scared of putting any interactions with anyone else in because that wouldd easily push it into the 3,000 word count zone. So it's just another look at how Revel reacts to her surroundings. I guess I'm still building her up as herself before the story starts for real?

Thank you for the review!

To all reviewers, past and present, thank you! I don't always find something to say in reply to each reviewer but I do my best to read them and will take their advice as best I can. You are appreciated!

Thanks Revel (even if it isn't technically my birthday yet).

The DDM post is a little unusual, I suppose, but it's a nice way of rounding the week out (all three get to say they did two posts  ;) - Damask can say he has three), and really highlights the co-operative aspect of the competition. i don't know exactly how you went about writing this, but the writing seems pretty seamless, and Damask and Deadtail really shine. They're both pretty alienated in this group - Deadtail always is; in some ways Damask seems to have a little Suellyn (who herself is partly lifted from Bryony) in him. It's interesting that there's a lot of reconciliatory stuff in this competition on the character level, while on the story level it's another goodbeast/vermin war.
Loving Deadtail, Eliza... and all the rest of you craaaaaazy contestants!

You'll be seeing more from Deadtail and me, sir. We just felt that the Interlude was a nice slow down in our otherwise hectic mini-arc. I'm glad you enjoyed it and a very happy unbirthday to you. As for the question of how we wrote this: AIM. AIM and editing afterward.

Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die:

Hehe. I bet you had fun with that.  ;D

QuoteAnd another body between me and the arrows, he added silently...

well. Bryony with decidedly less wholesome undertones, maybe...

Damask the Minstrel

Hee!

Well, the interlude was an idea I had that went like this: Because we have to OMGRun! to get to the group, I thought we should all have time for some peaceful character development.

Eliza's is another strong post, with a mix of nice interactions and some killer lines (although I'm not sure that Revel is supposed to be quite so much of an idiot as she's written here). There's something quite wonderful about Eliza's perpetual struggle to convince herself of her superiority while the other characters question it. I'm still waiting for Eliza to actually do something, however - and I suppose this applies to all the characters in this group. That ship had better make landfall soon.

Thank you, Vlaine! (And a very merry unbirthday, as well!)

And someday these minions will realize her greatness. Just you wait!
She walks in beauty, like the night
of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
meet in her aspect and her eyes...

Totally still working on the RV5 epilogue, I swear...

Argh... help... I take a wee break and suddenly everyone has posted. So. Quick thought:

Keane: I wasn't particularly enchanted with the beginning of the post - somehow conversations about porridge just aren't particularly thrilling. When Keane takes over the tiller, however, this post takes an utterly surreal turn. We can finally get off this confounded boat! As a direct result of gobsmacking stupidity! And this has to be one of the best things I've ever read:

Quote?Hardly matters now,? the beast pointed out, ?But I'd say you had no bloody idea how to steer a ship."

Suellyn: I felt that the Revel-Eliza argument rather overshadowed much of the rest of the post. Revel's interactions with both Eliza and Suellyn are perfectly priceless. It's slightly odd that this post moves the story along... into the prologue... but it does give some certainty to the direction of the story.

Venril: This seems a little underdone. Perhaps it's the self-pity, perhaps it's because all the post's action takes place before it actually begins, but it doesn't attract me to the character. Everybody seems to be casually disgusted with Venril, and he does nothing meaningful to refute them. Hmm. The impression I get is that you didn't actually particularly enjoy writing this post. We have a fair picture of how Venril interacts with other characters for the moment, so I'd really love to see you do an utterly selfish post. Do something crazy with absolutely no regard for any of the other characters, settings, etc. Something for Venril to really shine!
