OK, so seeing as this is the first contest I've ever actually actively audience'd (I was present for parts of RV3 but didn't read the contest as it was being posted emhmhrm :x), I have made it my mission to read through every single survivor contest ever, at least until I get sick of 'em. I've made it through RV2, RV3 and QBIV so far, and I think they all made surprisingly compelling, smooth bedtime reading considering they were written by so many people. Now I'm on RV4 and I might even read what was completed of the first RedVenture...

SO! If anyone wants to join me, or if some prehistoric creature who actually HAS been around for every contest ever wants to add their input, or if you just generally want to discuss the highs and lows of previous contests, this thread is the place to do it? Yes.

Jarrtail

Wow. You're good. I'm about done with RV2, but that's really the limit of my experience.

Damask the Minstrel

I'll revisit after I'm voted off -- or not. Since I can't give away my age by saying exactly which ones I've been around for...

In the "complexity of posts" thread I mentioned QB2, so I've at least read back that far. ^.^

Low? Probably every time someone's been voted off without a post in a week. It's like... it's like beating the Chicago Cubs or Detroit Lions. True, it's a win (or one less competitor), but it's a dirty win. You didn't earn it.

High? Well... Rufelle's ending in RV3 was pretty fantastic. Also Week 5 of TED was fantastic. For drug-induced crazed murdering and this line: "As Tieri fell, she realised she could still taste Gunnar`s breath."

That's bringing the funny, folks.

Mind you, I think we're pretty awesome, too.

oh also! You can say (nicely) what you would have changed about past contests if you had mind control over the audience and/or contestants.

I would have saved Benny and Alacia from RV2. Somehow. I just really liked them. :S Not sure who I would have killed off in their stead, though (well maybe Fetrikh hmhrm)

And I wouldn't have killed off Scolly so soon in QBIV (i know i definitely would have voted Racceberyl off before her :X). I feel like there was so much to her that the audience never got a chance to see, and it's not often a truly interesting mole character comes around.

Opal

Or, y'know, just a mole character in general. :P

But nuuu, Fetters! I dunno, I was pretty derned fond of Fetrikh, I think because it was such a weird, original concept for a vermin. With the trowel-stabbing and unrequited crush on Anora and all. Their "romance" was hilarious. Bwahah. But I did like Benny and Alacia too of course. I liked all of 'em! :P

And I did like Scolly muchly, of course (at least, I can't remember if I ever voted for her). I was also one of the raging Racc fangirls though, for a time. Oh Waxybarrels. I wuvved you and your epically odd name. ;D

I'm pretty sure I voted for Skara to win that'n in the end. But it was an extremely tough choice. I think QBIV had some of the best writing of any contest.

I did like Fetrikh's application (the dialogue at the end especially 8D) and his death post. Everything in between was all right too - the character never just really clicked for me, I guess. We had no... chemistry? I dunno.

But Scolly and Benny (he'll  never come home to his sister SOB), man their death posts srsly almost made me cry. I can't exactly say why, either. I guess it works out like that sometimes - some characters you just take an instinctive liking to and others you are more distant from, and not from any wrong or right-doing, as it were, on the author's part. Maybe. or maybe it's just me.

Opal

I liked Scolly's death post up until the infamous quote:

QuoteHer back felt like it was bending, bending like David Gilmour on guitar.

That reference knocked me for such a loop that I had trouble concentrating on the rest of it, I have to admit. ;_;

Stonewall

At the risk of playing favorites, my favorite RV character is still Himmel. Just the perfect balance of everything.

Make sure that you tune into MM as well, Sparrow. I like to think we count.  ;)
I am the game, and I want to play

Sparrowhawk

I actually liked the Gilmour reference, or at least didn't mind it. I guess that shows you how hardcore of a Scolly fan I am, lol

Definitely will, Stonewall. Planning on hitting TED, O:S/O:M, QB, ROC:S, MM, Redscape, everything. But first I have to complete the RedVentures. Then I'll feel like I've really made a dent in stuff. :P

Of course MM counts! We're basically awesome is all.

I will also risk playing favorites and say that Himmel was one of the most adorably tragic survivor characters ever, and he was the only one that tempted me to "misplace" a few votes so he wouldn't be voted out.

...I didn't, obviously. :P

P.S. I love all my RVers though, of course! I think Himmel in particular just tugged at me ol' heartstrings...Like, he had a death grip on them. Srsly.

P.P.S. I caught a female Spearow and named her Marron. :P

OMG. i named my murkrow in Gold Rufelle. :o

Opal

I named mine...something I can't say here. XD

(I have fun giving some of my Pokemon highly inappropriate names. :P)

OH. Aaand I pretty much caught a legendary Pokemon (Heatran) with a regular, poopy little Pokeball. I wasted like ten Dusk Balls and then I was like, psh, why don't I try a regular one just for fun? Now won't this be funny if it actually...HOLYCARPITWORKED.

(I named him Dennis. ;D)

Dozystoat

When I played Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time, I totally reset the game and re-did the test until I got Cyndaquil for my main character. Then I chose a Totodile for a partner and named him Itzal.

I feel just so happy that people like Rufelle and Scolly. o.o Now hurry up and read O:S! *titters*

Also, I'm really impressed. I'm still struggling through QBV and only just keeping up with RV5. I haven't read a page of a real book in over a month. XP I don't know how you do it. Bravo, sir Sparrow, bravo!

Hey now, the Cubs have won their division two of the last three seasons. :P

(Sorry. Crazy fan.)

I haven't read too many contests, so don't have a lot to contribute here.
