You know what really surprises me? There's certainly been controversies here and there throughout past survivor contests, you know which ones, BUT.

It doesn't seem to me that there have been any (substantial) disputes between the contestants themselves, regarding the direction of the story/characterization. I think that's a testament to... something. The high standard of general courtesy, maturity and teamwork behind the scenes? Gives one a warm, fuzzy feeling.

Or I could be totally wrong and the contestant forums are always a hotbed of high dramaz and stress. But it certainly has never seemed that way to me from the outside.

There has definitely been some friction (and sometimes more than that) in past rounds of RedVenture. But that is one can of worms I will not open. Sometimes it has been downright unpleasant as an admin to be caught in the middle of it. Fortunately, so far this round I have seen no trace of that and everyone seems to be playing nicely with one another. Unless they're doing all their brawling over IMs (in the chats I never get invited to! **SOB**). :P

(Okay, so I've managed to not be online pretty much every time they have a chat, I guess. Or they're just avoiding me. ;))

Um, in MM it was a combination of stress (more for me, I think, 'cos of my schoolwork and newness to this kind of pressured writing), and fun, but mostly fun. -cough- the IM chats -cough-  ;D Everyone's really nice, or at least courteous, and has pretty constructive criticism for their fellow contestants. :)

haha the most fun thing is setting up a chat with Liza and Revvie and just saying, "You two have a catfight and I'll take notes." :D

Those private boards can get heated.  Thankfully, most of it is directed at the story's planning.

I agree with Saffy--the Midnight Mossflower cast was a class act.  No real drama that I can think of between the cast members, and only one short spat on the OOC board that was pretty much over by the next week.  There was a lot of camaraderie amongst the staff writers.  The climate of MM is something I tried very hard to reproduce for Redscape.

reviving this for great justice! It's a new year, and I'm still reading old contests (and excitedly awaiting the conclusion of this one, of course!)

what I really want to know is, is there anywhere I might find a complete archive of the first Questors Bold? The website only has posts up to week three. I know it's a long shot but I figured I might as well ask here to see if anyone happened to save it for whatever reason.

Someone had put up all the parts of the story they had saved on a thread in Terrouge...er, which has probably been archived now, annoyingly. I don't remember where it was, or even if it was the entire story (my suspicion is that it was not), but that was where they were getting the material for the archive from.

EDIT: Found it after some trawling...here!

'NUTHER EDIT: Yes, it is the entire story. The story was just never finished, in fine survivor contest tradition. ;D

YAY i love you and the person(s) who posted that. Thanks!

Sycamore

What did you think of Kelsey?? She was my favorite character of RV4.
And then he DIED!!!

Sparrowhawk

I don't really remember except that her death disturbed me. :( So I guess I must have liked her

Jarrtail

She was an otter. That's why he's asking.  :D

Sycamore

She was the best character! That's why I'm asking. I'm still ticked at Silus for that. Only the good die young . . .
And then he DIED!!!

Cricket Argyll

Gee. Thanks, Syc. Thought you might actually... y'know, like the PC's, more than an NPC who had all of five lines in the story proper. =P

On civility:
RV4 was mostly civil between the contestants behind the scenes. There were some... differences of opinion that led to friction and bad feelings, but I think we all got along well enough to produce a good story. ROC:S3's so long ago I hardly remember. I do know that one of my best friends on the ROC *cough*treedog*cough* came from that contest. All the others I worked with seemed great, as well, but I can't really comment on the overall feeling of the contestant group as I was booted early. O:S, I don't remember there being any significant conflicts between the authors on Team 2, or in the later combined team. I could be wrong. That was a while ago, too. O:M there was some friction, but I think that had to do with the annoyance of so many people disappearing all at once. Er...'course I disappeared too at the end. *pets Tara* You still love me, though, right? *big ratty eyes*
*crickets chirruping*

Rath the Whirlwind

The only contest that was bad in my experience was QBV.  Full stop.  The story itself was fine, but... grah.  I met about one good friend, of which I've grateful for, but the rest was just stressful, from the audience AND contestants.
