A Musical Interlude

Was glancing over the Redscape board and I saw something pretty cool, a topic devoted to music. Basically it matches up the charries with various songs. So! I thought it was neat and I've worked up my own little list. Oh, and ignore the videos that go with these. I was just looking for the best audio for the songs and some of the videos are weird.

Revel - "Delaney Talks to Statues" by Jimmy Buffet

- I just think Revvie's so cute and innocent...and weird, like a kid that this song fit her. Of course she's a cute, innocent, weird preggo, so I'm not so sure about that middle descriptor. *eyes the stoat tummy*
- And for her kits, something nice Revvie could sing to them would be "The Blessing" by the Celtic Women.

Bellona - "Brothers in Arms" by the Dire Straits

- Felt like it captured Bell's neediness to be around a group of fellow fighters. I'm a bit worried about her sans Sailpaw since he seemed really important to the character. It's nice to see her interacting with the others more, though!

Rath - "Rodeo" by Garth Brooks

- Exchange Rodeo metaphors for gladiatorial metaphors and I think we have a winner! I know Rath quit being a gladiator, but it seems he can't escape that what with Venril wanting lessons and everybeast expecting him to fight like 'the Whirlwind' he is.

Keane - "Cocaine" by Eric Clapton

- BECAUSE! *fangirls Clapton*

Suellyn - "The Last Rose of Summer" by the Celtic Women

- I love Celtic Women and I thought this was a lovely song to describe not only Sue's background (all her family left her, got eaten, or stolen/killed by vermin), but her kindly nature.

Deadtail - "Surprises" by Billy Joel

- Deady was the hardest for me to settle on for a song. I chose this one because it sort of sounded in my head like Dead talking to some young buck of a soldier in the horde. Dead just wanted a little peace for the Fritterik...and then he got killed by them, but then that shouldn't surprise him at all.:(

Damask - "L'hymne ? L'amour" (as sung) by Bruno Pelletier

- Edith Piaf sings a fantastic version of this, too, but I thought Monsieur Pelletier would be more 'manly' for our robin. As he's stuck in a fine little love triangle, I thought it appropriate Dammy would sing a Hymn for Love.

Venril - "God Must Hate Me" by Simple Plan

- This doesn't exactly describe Venny, but his life seems to be a case of the Fates hating him. Poor stoater! Simple Plan is my dirty musical pleasure, so JUDGE ME IF YOU WILL! *coughs* Yes, I just think Venny seems like an overenthusiastic teenager sometimes, especially when he's fan-girling Rath.

Eliza - "You're So Vain" by Carly Simon

- It had to be said. *nods*

Criket that's PERFECT! i love it! now i really need to go record that lullaby for Rev. but first . . . . *joins you in fangirling Clapton*

You, my dear Rat-ess, win. XD

I've totally got that on my playlist of "Songs that Make Me Think of Liza" on my laptop, actually...
She walks in beauty, like the night
of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
meet in her aspect and her eyes...

Totally still working on the RV5 epilogue, I swear...

Revel

Oh wow! Thank you Cricket. That song is perfect for Revel's childhood with her pop.

A little spoilerish to point it out, but I adore how well these lines in particular fit,

She speaks a language of her own
Just a little like her mother
And I hope that you know that nature is so
This same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land, and forests and sand,
Makes the beautiful world that you'll see in the morning

To all reviewers, past and present, thank you! I don't always find something to say in reply to each reviewer but I do my best to read them and will take their advice as best I can. You are appreciated!

Deadtail

I think that works pretty well, thanks for finding it!
No s? si la guerra ha terminado
O se han olvidado de m?...
Como un topo, sin nadie alrededor
Bajo el suelo, como un topo, sin ver la luz del sol

Damask the Minstrel

#5
Cor... one song to describe Dammy?

Well, I can't say what the biggest influence on my writing is, since it would give me away.

However, I have to say that this fits disillusioned-Dammy.

Still, a good choice, Cricket. Damask is a big fan of good vocals. ^.^

saffy

My friend likes the FF games, but I've only played VII and XII with her.  :D it's pretty good!

Jarrtail

Never played FF myself. I much prefer Halo-type games.

Deadtail

What, no virtual hantz? Phooey.  :P

And....all I have is a DS.  :P

Eliza Lacrimosa

I'm actually a bit sad that I've never gotten around to buying a DS. I would consider getting one, if only to mess around with "Scribblenauts" for a while. (And also I think the Mario & Luigi RPG series is usually restricted to that one, as well, and they seem pretty interesting.)

I've only ever played Final Fantasy I and III(/VI). I'm still convinced no FF game will ever top the latter. :P

I bought a DS this summer! I didn't bother with the DSi, because apart from being more expensive, it has no GBA slot (which also makes such games as Guitar Hero DS obsolete), SHORTER battery life than its predecessors, and although I guess being able to download a few games would be kind of cool, the only other "plus" is a junky camera. So I went with the cheaper DS Lite. Still haven't gotten many games though. I stole my husband's copy of Pok?mon Diamond. :P

I loved it back in the day, but I could never really get into any of the Pokemon games after Yellow.

When I bought my GBA, I did actually get Sapphire, and managed to KO every single rare Pokemon in the game by accident. My lineup for the Elite Four wound up having to be traded in Blue, except for the Raticate I trained from Level 2. I felt so... unclean...
